Review of the importance of social marketing as related to recruitment, understand the seven (7) Cs of effective communication, and become familiar with at least three promotion considerations in a recruitment strategy.

Key takeaways of effective promotion strategies:

  • Tap into existing relationships: Internal and external partnerships can present opportunities to expand your reach. Encourage existing members, especially those who consistently champion the group, to bring a friend or guest to the meeting. Consider partnering with a local community-based organization to increase community awareness and event engagement.
    • This applies to creating social media content as well. Spotlighting existing partner communication or information is useful for jurisdictions who are limited in what they can create and minimizes duplication.
  • Embrace the QR code: QR codes are convenient ways to facilitate event RSVPs, share resources, collect contact information, and simplify registration.
  • Diversify recruitment channels: Disseminating information through a range of communication platforms strengthens outreach and engagement. Successful strategies include word of mouth, health fairs, social media influencers, and local media firms.

The Community Engagement Learning Series is a three part learning series focused on peer-to-peer sharing on recruitment, retention, and sustained community engagement in jurisdictional HIV prevention and care planning bodies.
