Within our collection of well over 2,000 HIV care improvement resources is a sub-grouping of items focused on clinical quality management or CQM. Today's Flashback is a 2002 document on assessing patient satisfaction with the quality of care: Patient Satisfaction Survey for HIV Ambulatory Care.
The history of HRSA technical assistance and training on quality management, however, started years earlier. The work emerged from a directive within an early reauthorization of then-titled Ryan White CARE Act that was first passed in 1990, under which clinical quality management became a required activity of agencies funded under the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP). (See Clinical Quality Management Policy Clarification Notice #15-02.)
Ever since, HRSA's HIV/AIDS Bureau has funded a wide variety of technical support on quality management. Today, there are nearly 300 resources focused on CQM in our resources, most of which were produced under the Center for Quality Improvement and Innovation (CQII) and its earlier version, the National Quality Center.
