From CDC's Vital Signs - A free continuing education online course on HIV transmission rates across the HIV continuum of care (based on a model using surveillance data) is available from CDC and Medscape. Vital Signs: HIV Transmission Along the Continuum of Care — United States, 2016 is available until September 2020 and is just one in a series provided by Medscape and CDC's MMWR. 

The CME is for public health officials and clinicians and presents these learning objectives:

  • Describe the estimated number of persons with HIV infection and the HIV transmission rate at each step along the continuum of care in the United States in 2016, according to an HIV transmission model.
  • Determine demographic factors associated with the estimated number of persons with HIV infection and HIV transmission rate at each step along the continuum of care in the United States in 2016, according to an HIV transmission model. 
  • Identify clinical and public health implications of estimated HIV transmission rates along the continuum of care in the United States in 2016, according to an HIV transmission model.
