CDC has issued a funding notice to solicit grants from health departments to enhance their HIV prevention activities. There are three components to Integrated HIV Programs for Health Departments to Support Ending the HIV Epidemic in the United States (PS20-2010).
- Component A (up to 32 awards) - health departments can enhance HIV prevention through four strategies: earlier diagnoses of HIV infection cases; rapid HIV treatment to help infected persons achieve viral suppression; prevention of new infections via PrEP and syringe services programs; and quicker responses to potential outbreaks.
- Component B (up to 8 awards) - to fund health departments on using HIV surveillance data to calculate CD4-based HIV incidence estimates to in turn help communities plan, implement, and evaluate prevention and treatment programs.
- Component C (up to 8 awards) - to fund health departments to scale up innovative HIV prevention services in STD clinics.
Applications are due on March 25, 2020 and the anticipated award will begin on June 1, 2020.
