A relatively new infographic (see below) on housing status among people getting HIV care from the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) demonstrates how less stable housing hinders HIV viral suppression. Over time, however, these disparities have lessened significantly.
Rates in 2018, as depicted in the infographic,Housing and HIV-Related Health Care Outcomes Among HRSA’s Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) Clients (HRSA, January 2020), were as follows. Corresponding trend data are depicted in the HRSA slides, HIV Care Outcomes, Viral Suppression, 2018.
- 72.4% with unstable housing (54.8% in 2010)
- 80.7% with temporary housing (63.7% in 2010)
- 88.4% with stable housing (71.2% in 2010)
