STD Cases Up in 2021: Preliminary Data

TargetHIV

With an emphasis on "preliminary," data released by CDC in August report an increase in STDs in 2021. According to the report, Preliminary 2021 STD Surveillance Data, "2.5 million reported cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis in 2021."

Caution in interpretation is found in the slide set notes, which state, slide to slide: "The COVID-19 pandemic has introduced uncertainty and difficulty in interpreting STD data collected during 2020 and 2021. See Impact of COVID-19 on STDs. (https://www.cdc.gov/std/statistics/2020/impact.htm) for more information."
