From Planning CHATT E-News

Getting ready to orient new Planning Council members? Planning CHATT has resources to help.

As new members come on board in the new year, RWHAP planning councils/planning bodies (PC/PBs) are putting together orientation sessions to help them understand their HIV planning roles and duties. Planning CHATT has a wealth of resources to make it quicker and easier to develop orientation and training sessions that prepare PC/PB members to participate fully in PC/PB activities.

Training Guide for RWHAP Part A Planning Councils/Planning Bodies: A Member’s First Planning Cycle

The Training Guide offers foundational information and interactive training materials on a range of essential topics–from understanding the RWHAP Parts, to needs assessment and PSRA, to planning council operations. The modules include: Understanding the Legislation, Roles and Responsibilities, Overview of the RWHAP Part A Annual Planning Cycle, and more. Each module includes trainer notes, presentation slides, experiential activities and quick reference handouts. To find training materials on a specific subject (for example, consumer involvement) use the Training Guide Index by Topic.

Supplement to the Training Guide: Training Fundamentals: Resources for Trainers and Facilitators

The Supplement to the Training Guide, Training Fundamentals: Resources for Trainers and Facilitators, provides step-by-step guidance for selecting resources from the Training Guide and putting them together to create effective and interactive training sessions for different audiences–including orientation for new members, short training sessions for PC/PB leaders and committee chairs, and mini-training sessions for all members that can fit into the timeframe of a PC/PB meeting.
