Description
Part 1: Expanding Perinatal HIV Prevention Efforts as a Key Strategy to End the HIV Epidemic in Los Angeles County
Los Angeles County shares a multi-level approach to HIV prevention to address an increase in perinatal transmissions. This includes innovative data-to-care activities, provider
outreach targeting delivery hospitals and prenatal and HIV care providers and development of a specialized intensive case management team serving pregnant people with HIV.
Learning Objectives
- Increase knowledge of data-to-care approaches that can improve timely identification of perinatal cases in their jurisdiction.
- Understand how to develop a perinatal HIV prevention provider outreach campaign.
- Identify key components of a perinatal case management program serving highly vulnerable pregnant people with HIV.
Part 2: Crucial Conversations: Interrupting Perinatal HIV Transmissions
Six new cases of perinatal HIV transmission were identified in Maryland in 2022, compared to six in the previous five years combined. The JHM RWHAP-funded multidisciplinary collaborative is working in conjunction with partners to identify obstacles and create interventions that prevent and interrupt perinatal HIV transmissions.
