Part 1: Improving HIV Care Outcomes: Trauma and Its Effects on Our Hispanic/Latino Community

This presentation will explore the unique challenges affecting the mental health of the Hispanic/Latino community. The presenters will specifically focus on and define trauma and explain how it can impact HIV care outcomes. Culturally sensitive strategies will be presented and recommended for patient-facing providers.

  • Explain how trauma affects the Hispanic/ Latino community and its effects on HIV care outcomes.

Part 2: The Future of Trauma-Informed and Healing-Centered Care

Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the future of trauma-informed care and its pivotal role in ending the epidemic, as well as how to harness cutting-edge tools and strategies. The session will also examine lessons learned on the other side of the COVID pandemic and how to move to a more healing-centered paradigm.

  • Learn about proven strategies for enhancing the quality of care, focusing on integrating trauma-informed practices into existing care models.
  • Acquire practical skills and knowledge for delivering trauma-informed care, including effective communication techniques, empathy, and resilience.
  • Understand the potential of biometrics, particularly heart rate variability, in trauma- informed care while offering valuable insights into people’s physical and mental health.
