This NASTAD-hosted webinar will review PrEPcost.org, including new features and updates for the 2019 plan year. The webinar will also discuss strategies for supporting clients with plan comparison and enrollment. The target audience is health department staff and community PrEP navigators.
PrEPcost.org is an online tool that will help PrEP navigators and their clients evaluate the cost and coverage for PrEP across on- and off-Marketplace health plans, tailoring the search for each client. PrEPcost.org will be available for 2019 Open Enrollment in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The 2019 version will include a number of new features and updates, including the ability to search for both on- and off-Marketplace plans, the ability to search for providers, and direct links to additional consumer assistance and enrollment support.
The tool will estimate the total monthly and annual cost of PrEP to the client under each plan, including monthly premiums and out-of-pocket costs. The tool will also take into account federal premium and cost-sharing assistance and the manufacturer’s PrEP co-pay assistance program, where applicable. The results will make it easy for navigators and their clients to compare plans and, once the client is ready to enroll in a plan, PrEPcost.org will connect them directly to trained health assistance professionals for help with eligibility screening and enrollment.
HRSA HAB on PrEP
HRSA’s HIV/AIDS Bureau (HAB) issued a June 2016 Dear Colleague letter strongly encouraging Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) recipients and providers to leverage the RWHAP infrastructure to support PrEP services within the program parameters, even though RWHAP funds cannot be used for purchasing PrEP.
