Information Gathering and Use

You are able to visit and view most of this site anonymously without providing any personal information. We do not track or record personal information about individuals and their visits. Should you choose to provide us with your name and e-mail address in the Help Desk or to access restricted content, this information will only be used for official purposes (for instance, to respond to your inquiry) and will not be provided to any third parties except to fulfill your request.

This website uses Google Analytics to help analyze how users use the site. The tool uses "cookies," which are text files placed on your computer, to collect standard Internet log information and visitor behavior information in an anonymous form. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including "IP" or Internet Protocol address) is transmitted to Google. This information is then used to evaluate visitors' use of TargetHIV.org and to compile statistical reports on website activity for TargetHIV.org.

We will never (and will not allow any third party to) use the statistical analytics tool to track or to collect any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) of visitors to our site. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. Neither we nor Google will link, or seek to link, an IP address with the identity of a computer user. We will not associate any data gathered from this site with any PII from any source, unless you explicitly submit that information via a fill-in form on our website.

User Registration and Restricted Content

The only site content that requires user registration are the Community Forums or Discussion Boards. Registered users also have access to features such as bookmarking content. To register you must provide your name, email, zip code and general information about your relationship to the Ryan White HIV AIDS Program (RWHAP). Once you have registered, a profile page is created with your information. These pages are visible to other registered users but are not indexed by search engines (internal or external). We analyze and report user demographics to HRSA in an aggregated, de-identified format (for example, we may report that we have 100 registered users from Rhode Island but will not provide names of these users).

There are a small number of resources related to RWHAP data collection that require for an email address before allowing download. This is because the content developers want to be able to contact users when updates are made.

Third-Party Sites

For your convenience, links to useful Web sites outside the TargetHIV.org site are provided on various pages throughout the site. These links are designated by a marker with an upward facing arrow. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of these sites.
