Webinar 6 - Lessons in Providing Oral Health Care to PLWH

October 2017

IHIP

 cover

Oral health care continues to be a critical and frequently unmet healthcare need among people living with HIV (PLWH).  During this interactive webinar, Howell Ira Strauss, DMD discussed the oral health intervention that AIDS Care Group implemented, studied, and sustained. The intervention involved establishing a satellite dental clinic to expand reach and access to dental services for PLWH, and providing dental case management and oral health care education. Dr. Strauss walked through best practices, highlighted key takeaways and lessons learned, and answered questions about replication. AIDS Care Group is one of 15 Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS) demonstration sites funded to develop innovative models for providing oral health care services to underserved populations living with HIV.

This webinar, the third and final in this years’ series of webinars, is just one resource in a suite of technical assistance/training tools. These tools are easily accessible on the newly revamped SPNS Integrating HIV Innovative Practices (IHIP) Project landing page. IHIP quite literally helps you take tested innovation and turn it into practice. It's where training meets implementation. The results are more informed providers, better care delivery and, ultimately, healthier patients and communities.
