CDC Study: Monkeypox Cases, HIV, and STIs

An 8-city CDC surveillance report documents that, among the nearly 2,000 monkeypox cases reported in May through July 2022, "38% had HIV infection, and 41% had an STI in the preceding year." The vast majority of those with monkeypox and HIV were virally suppressed and received care in the previous year. HIV prevalence among persons with monkeypox was highest among Black/African and Hispanic/Latino individuals.
