COVID-19 Vaccination Rates: Slow Early Uptake

TargetHIV

Approximately one month after the September 2023 approval and recommendation for most individuals to get the latest COVID-19 vaccine, uptake among Americans has been underwhelming. According to an October 2023 survey, only 7.1 percent of the overall population has been vaccinated. Vaccination rates are also meager among those most at risk: older individuals.

Here are the numbers, as presented at the October 25, 2023 meeting of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.

Go to Vaccines.gov to find a vaccine, which is available free of charge to most individuals under private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, or via the Bridge Access Program for those without insurance.
