HRSA Launches HIV Awareness Initiative

HRSA HIV/AIDS Bureau (HAB)

During Juneteenth weekend (June 17-18), the HRSA HIV/AIDS Bureau’s (HAB) Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) exhibited at the Baltimore AFRAM Festival (the largest African American festival on the East Coast) for its first community outreach event for the new Creating HIV Awareness with iNfluencing Groups to End the HIV epidemic (CHANGE Initiative).

The festival showcased African American music, art, and culture. Over 300 attendees visited the CHANGE interactive booth and HAB staff were able to provide important information about HIV prevention, care and treatment, mpox, and RWHAP services.  The CHANGE AFRAM team was able to support local community partners at AFRAM such as the Baltimore City Health Department’s mobile HIV and STI testing unit.
