Common PrEP Questions: A Case-Based Discussion

This session, packed with Audience Response Questions, reviewed epidemiological data on candidates for PrEP (those at highest risk for HIV infection including the heavy burden in the South and among black MSM), multiple scenarios for working with patients about PrEP (including the benefits of same-day prescribing of PrEP), data on PrEP's efficacy, the impact of sexually transmitted infections on PrEP, and a review of U=U: Undetectable=Untransmittable.

Sexually Transmitted Infections on the Rise: Syphilis, Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea

"How many of you have seen an STD in the last week?" Apparently, all hands were raised in response in this session, which focused on three STIs: chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. The talk reviewed epidemiological data on the rising incidence of STIs, screening recommendations for STIs (and hepatitis), clinical manifestations, diagnostic tests, and treatment. The presentation also highlighted new treatments and draft recommendations due for publication in 2020.
