Oral Health in the HIV Care Continuum is a program model through which Lifelong, a community-based organization, serves as the administering agency between the Seattle Transitional Grant Area (Seattle TGA) Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) Part A recipient and oral health care providers.
The program model launched in 2014 and has been sustained for nearly a decade. The Seattle TGA receives funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) RWHAP Part A and allocates resources to this project. The program model also receives funding from the City of Seattle to assist with nonmedical case management expenses.
The Oral Health in the HIV Care Continuum program model presents an administering agency model to assess community needs, initiate referrals, and connect clients to an oral health care provider. The program model offers an innovative approach to HIV care leading to viral suppression among clients.
