Jail: Time for Testing

This is a Guide on how to implement an opt-out HIV testing program in a jail setting. For use by staff working within agencies involved with the criminal justice system, public health departments, and AIDS service organizations. This was developed under the SPNS initiative.

Sections cover the following topics:

  • How to Work Within Jails (e.g., connecting to the local system, understanding the culture of corrections)
  • Communication (e.g., strategic, your initial approach)
  • Implementation (e.g., staffing, privacy/confidentiality, HIV testing, procedures manual)
