TransActivate: HIV Care Engagement for Transgender Latinas

TransActivate is a comprehensive and innovative program to improve the timely entry, engagement, and retention in quality HIV care for Latina transgender women in Los Angeles County. The TransActivate intervention uses a strengths-based approach and transtheoretical model and showcases persistent, creative, and systematic methods to overcome barriers to engagement and retention in care.

The TransActivate intervention was launched in response to the unique needs of Latina transgender women in Los Angeles and ran from 2014 to 2016. TransActivate takes a multi-faceted approach to address concurrent, patient-level, provider-level, and structural-level barriers to accessing and engaging in HIV care.
