CDC has issued the first-ever guidelines recommending use of doxy PEP (doxycycline postexposure prophylaxis) for the prevention of STIs among select populations.
Released June 6, 2024, CDC Clinical Guidelines on the Use of Doxycycline Postexposure Prophylaxis for Bacterial Sexually Transmitted Infection Prevention, United States, 2024 provide a summary of the guidelines consideration process, efficacy data, potential harms, populations deemed most likely to benefit, and--of course--the recommendations (Recommendation 1: counseling, priority populations, dosing and Recommendation 2: ancillary clinical services including screening/treating for STIs and counseling).
