Description

Transgender women and men are at markedly elevated risk for HIV. This session reviews a successful four-pronged approach to building the capacity of a large multi-site RWHAP-funded community health center network, in collaboration with a community-based organization, to improve delivery of HIV primary care to transgender women and men.

Learning Objectives

  1. Discuss factors contributing to HIV risk in transgender populations which may also impact adherence to the HIV care continuum.
  2. Describe the successful collaboration between the community health centers and the community-based organization which led to a greater than 100% increase in engagement of transgender persons in HIV primary care.
  3. Review best practices for systemic changes to better engage transgender persons in HIV primary care.
