Learn how small transformations in federal qualified health center (FQHC) practices can increase the rate of STI screening and treatment and eliminate barriers to care. Creating proficiency in scheduling patients by using urgent care appointments and implementing self-collection to empower patients and increase process efficiency can help patients receive needed services.

Learning Objectives

  1. Learn about the evidence-based research on STI self-collection and how it fits into the model of FQHCs.
  2. Learn about the success of a pilot project in self-collection and the lessons learned from patients in implementation and how to increase efficiencies in access to care for STIs by using urgent care or other innovative scheduling and the impact on patients.
  3. Learn about the importance of staff training and education around STI screening, patient education, treatment, care and retention in an FQHC.
