This interactive workshop will share Virginia's experiences and lessons learned from the Virginia Consumer Advisory Committee (VACAC). The workshop will provide perspective on effectively engaging consumers in ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The session will highlight VACAC's structure and how it interacts with consumers, the Virginia Department of Health, and service providers.

The HIV surveillance-based Agency-level Viral Suppression Report (AVSR) is intended to help RWHAP agencies understand viral suppression trends among their client population. Redesigning the AVSR to include viral suppression comparisons between additional client subgroups and vulnerable populations can expand agencies' capacity to identify health disparities and achieve equitable health outcomes.

To reverse this increasing trend, it is important to recognize the social, economic, linguistic, and cultural barriers that hinder the prevention and treatment efforts for HIV when developing an outreach strategy.

The Women Informational Network (WIN) micro-grant initiative supports grassroots, women-led, community-based organizations and leaders conducting innovative approaches that reduce isolation and stigma for women of color with HIV, with a special emphasis placed on women with HIV living in rural areas and ‘resource deserts’ not connected to care.

Undetectable=Untransmittable: individuals who maintain viral suppression don't transmit HIV to their sexual partners. Yet some providers are uncomfortable discussing the implications of viral suppression in clinical encounters. This workshop will explore approaches to reduce provider discomfort in discussing U=U and present strategies to convey this message.
