This poster will provide information about approaches of the Black Women First Initiative in adressing HIV epidemic through the COVID-19 pandemic. Various strategies were developed and adapted by the 12 RWHAP SPNS demonstration sites by changing their existing systems for a more culturally responsive care for Black women with HIV.

Significant challenges exist in vaccinating people with HIV for COVID-19. Our RWPC program set out to implement and evaluate a vaccine initiative for COVID-19 for people with HIV. We achieved vaccine rates of 78 percent being fully vaccinated by December 1, 2021 and 30 percent having a third dose.

The COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) exacerbated homelessness and housing instability. NY EMA Planning staff worked collaboratively to address homelessness as a driving force of poorer health outcomes for people living with HIV.
