The COVID-19 pandemic propelled digital tools to the forefront of healthcare. New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute Digital Health Initiative (DHI) coordinated digital health trainings to enhance practices among HIV program staff and may result in improved patient-provider communication, patient access to services and potentially health outcomes.

This case example of the AETC response, demonstrates Northeast/Caribbean AETC’s efforts to rapidly bring needed expertise and resources directly to community providers serving highly impacted communities.

Significant challenges exist in vaccinating people with HIV for COVID-19. Our RWPC program set out to implement and evaluate a vaccine initiative for COVID-19 for people with HIV. We achieved vaccine rates of 78 percent being fully vaccinated by December 1, 2021 and 30 percent having a third dose.
