Description

Transgender women, especially those of color, have substantially lower rates of viral suppression than people with HIV in general. The New York City HIV Planning Council collaborated with the community to develop guiding recommendations that drove the development of the jurisdiction's first psycho-social service directive specifically for people of transgender, intersex, non-binary, and/or non-conforming experience.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the collaborative process that led to the development of the overarching recommendations, including data analyses, qualitative information and community listening sessions.
  2. Discuss the impact of the overarching recommendations that informed the subsequent work.
  3. Review the service directive and its alignment with the collaborative way the council engaged with community members of transgender experience.
