Learn how work earnings interact with benefits people with HIV utilize for health coverage, housing, and income. Scenarios will be explored for working while on benefits, with a focus on the role legal and benefits advisement services play in equipping people with HIV for well-informed employment decisions and transitions.

Learning Objectives

  1. Recognize when and how Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits are affected by work earnings.
  2. Identify how Medicaid and/or Medicare can be retained if work earning reach levels causing cash SSI and/or SSDI benefits to cease.
  3. Describe the availability of legal and benefits advisement services to support individuals for making well-equipped employment decisions and work transitions.
