Positive Intentions: Effective Communication and Relationship-Building Strategies for PC/PBs

Strategies PC/PBs can use to reconcile various viewpoints when conducting PC/PB business to meet the needs of Ryan White HIV/AIDS (RWHAP) consumers.

Planning Council/Planning Body (PC/PB) members are passionate advocates for their communities and are tasked with ensuring access to necessary services for people living with HIV. The passion that inspires each member’s involvement can sometimes lead to differing perspectives on carrying out the PC/PB’s legislative responsibilities.

Representatives from Nashville TGA and Minneapolis/St. Paul TGA shared strategies that can help maintain decorum in virtual and in-person meetings. Presenters also shared conflict resolution strategies to help successfully resolve disagreements between PC/PB members, PCS staff, and other stakeholders. Presenters also discussed the importance of balancing PC/PB members’ dual roles of community planners and advocates.
