This workshop will describe how the Los Angeles Area AETC developed an inter-professional practice (IPP) program with the Charles Drew NP program, USC’s School of Pharmacy, UCLA’s School of Medicine, and the West LA’s psychiatric residency program -- along with five Ryan White clinics -- to help develop the next generation of HIV teams.

Ryan White Part B fiscal monitors in Texas developed processes and tools to identify, track, and report program income generated through the 340B program and other sources of revenue. Tools include a spending plan template and an allocation worksheet, which will be shared with other RWHAP recipients in this workshop.

Areas discussed include resource and personnel needs, patient eligibility and enrollment, revenue cycle work processes, challenges and barriers encountered, and goals to increase the number of patients engaged in the COC Program.

Financial tracking, allocation, and forecasting models will be demonstrated to assist in developing a master operating budget that allows for multiple funding streams. Assignment of expenditures into HRSA-defined service categories and allocation of expenses between awarded funds and program income resources will be discussed.

A culturally sensitive, participant-driven, Spanish-language group for Latina women with HIV promoted engagement in HIV services. Many participants had never previously engaged in support services. The increased participation resulted in multiple positive outcomes, including HIV viral load suppression, reduced stigma and isolation, engagement in mental health services, and increased community advocacy.

This session will discuss how to reduce the percentage of HIV patients who are out of care. Participants will learn to use a multi-disciplinary team approach to identify patients who are truly out of care, pinpoint the most effective approach toward contacting patients to be brought back into HIV care, and maintain the patient’s HIV care.

New HIV infections continue to rise among members of the Latinx community, especially youth. To reverse this increasing trend, it is important to recognize the social, economic, linguistic, and cultural barriers that hinder the prevention and treatment efforts for HIV when developing an outreach strategy.
