Improving access to HIV care is a critical component of engagement into and retention in care. This session will utilize patient-centered care principles to define healthcare access and its measures, and how a practice can measure demand for, and expand access to, HIV care and services.

It is important that health departments create innovative programs and examine how this initiative can be used to address viral hepatitis as well.

Oklahoma has been classified as one of the seven states with a high rural HIV burden. Telemedicine is an excellent resource to reach patients in rural areas and continue to engage them in care and keep them virally suppressed.

This session will feature an interactive demo and feedback session of HRSA HAB's data dashboards and benchmarking project. Presenters will orient attendees to the project timeline and status. The New York City Health Department data-to-care model to eliminate Hepatitis C in people with HIV uses surveillance data to target health care practices for training and clinical practice facilitation, to identify patients for outreach and linkage to care, and to monitor progress toward elimination.

In this workshop, participants will gain resources and strategies for implementing community engagement programs, including training community health workers to be part of a health care team to enhance viral suppression and management of HIV in rural populations.

The Howard University National HIV Curriculum Integration Project (H-NIP) is expanding the HIV clinical workforce by assisting medical, nursing, pharmacy and other health profession programs at historically black colleges and universities to integrate the National HIV Curriculum e-Learning Platform into their education and training curricula.

Using three HIV telehealth pilot projects as case studies, telehealth leaders from the Medical University of South Carolina—a HRSA-funded Telehealth Center of Excellence—will discuss how telehealth might be leveraged to improve access to HIV prevention and care. Telehealth technical assistance opportunities available through HRSA will also be highlighted.
