BPHC and HIV service agencies in the Boston EMA quickly adapted during the pandemic by shifting to telehealth, streamlining and enhancing processes, and expanding services to accommodate changing client needs. The U.S. opioid epidemic has significant impact on rates of overdose deaths among people with HIV. The aim of the project was to leverage the PDSA methodology to enhance a population-based, health information technology, intervention to facilitate the identification and panel management of high-risk clients with opioid use disorder.

Housing First is an effective, cost-efficient, evidence-based best practice that demonstrates improved health outcomes and care utilization for people experiencing homelessness, including people with HIV (PWH). Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S. (EHE) initiative is a unique opportunity for HRSA-funded Jurisdictions to support the uptake and implementation of the Housing First model in their communities to prevent new HIV diagnoses and engage people with HIV who are outside the current system of care.
