Significant challenges exist in vaccinating people with HIV for COVID-19. Our RWPC program set out to implement and evaluate a vaccine initiative for COVID-19 for people with HIV. We achieved vaccine rates of 78 percent being fully vaccinated by December 1, 2021 and 30 percent having a third dose.

NY EMA Planning staff worked collaboratively to address homelessness as a driving force of poorer health outcomes for people living with HIV. Housing First is an effective, cost-efficient, evidence-based best practice that demonstrates improved health outcomes and care utilization for people experiencing homelessness, including people with HIV (PWH). Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S. (EHE) initiative is a unique opportunity for HRSA-funded Jurisdictions to support the uptake and implementation of the Housing First model in their communities to prevent new HIV diagnoses and engage people with HIV who are outside the current system of care.
