A recap of grant awards for funding research on HIV interventions under the Ending the HIV Epidemic Initiative are summarized in the blog NIH Ending the HIV Epidemic Projects Bridge Gaps Between HIV Research and Public Health Practice.
Funds, awarded by the federal National Institutes of Health (NIH), track many of the HIV interventions developed (and under research) by HRSA's Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP). This includes work undertaken by RWHAP-funded localities and states as well as research and demonstration work by the RWHAP's Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS) and other HRSA initiatives.
A look at the list of supplemental awards tracks many areas found in the Best Practices Compilation and other HRSA HIV/AIDS Bureau efforts, like:
- Linkage to care projects in the Best Practices Compilation.
- Community health workers supporting care engagement.
- Social media to communicate with and link people into care (see social media Best Practices, identified from the SPNS Social Media Initiative).
- Trauma informed care, featuring E2i: Identifying and Addressing Trauma and the Trauma-Informed Approaches Toolkit.
- Cluster detection responses (see Coordinating, Communicating, and Collaborating - The 3 Cs for Cluster Detection & Response, by the TAP-in EHE technical assistance provider for EHE jurisdictions).
- Rapid ART, featuring Rapid ART Best Practices interventions, ongoing work by HRSA rapid ART projects (the Rapid ART Dissemination Assistance Provider and Building Capacity to Implement Rapid ART Start for Improved Care Engagement in RWHAP), and Rapid ART: An Essential Strategy for Ending the HIV Epidemic and Long-Acting Injectables for HIV Antiretroviral Therapy (both by the TAP-in TA provider).
