This advantage affords an understanding of the key components of successful intervention strategies of each program. This report highlights projects found to offer highly effective (and replicable) approaches to integrating buprenorphine-based medication-assisted treatment into HIV/AIDS primary care. Chapters outline the processes programs need to put in place, including meeting DATA 2000 regulatory requirements, achieving institutional buy-in, implementing staff training requirements, and evaluating processes and outcomes.

A culturally sensitive, participant-driven, Spanish-language group for Latina women with HIV promoted engagement in HIV services. Many participants had never previously engaged in support services. The increased participation resulted in multiple positive outcomes, including HIV viral load suppression, reduced stigma and isolation, engagement in mental health services, and increased community advocacy.
