This includes both a recipient serving homeless clients and a RWHAP AIDS Education and Training Center that trains clinicians on strategies to serve clients experiencing homelessness. University of Mississippi Medical Center utilized known barriers to care for postpartum women with HIV and leveraged that information to schedule individualized interactions with pregnant and postpartum women with HIV. This low-cost, low-effort initiative resulted in statistically significant improvements in both retention in care and viral suppression rates in postpartum women with HIV.

In this workshop, two sites in HRSA's Improving Health Outcomes through the Coordination of Supportive Employment and Housing Services Initiative will describe how they work with their Part A Planning Councils and the Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Coordinated Entry System to identify and obtain permanent housing for people with HIV who are unstably housed.

This sub-study compared viral suppression between SPNS participants and non-participants at the Meharry site. The SPNS study enrolled women of color newly who were recently diagnosed with HIV or lost to care. There was no statistically significant difference in viral suppression after controlling for demographic and clinical factors.

Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program uses an innovative care model, designed from the margins, to meet the complex needs of people living at the intersections of HIV, homelessness, substance use disorder, and incarceration. Such models hold promise for closing HIV care and prevention equity gaps for this hyper-vulnerable group.

The panel will discuss experiences working with Ryan White and housing data, including the development of expanded housing definitions and findings from research. Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program will share its innovative approach toward the micro-elimination of Hepatitis C (HCV) for homeless-experienced people with HIV. Team members will share data around cure rates, reinfection, and engaging with marginalized patients, and discuss leveraging existing Ryan White infrastructure and resources for such efforts.

After childbirth, women with HIV are more likely to fall out of care, leading to higher morbidity, risk of transmitting HIV to intimate partners, and subsequent pregnancies. Psychiatric disorders and other barriers are contributors to loss of follow-up. We present the successes and opportunities to improve health outcomes for postpartum women with HIV.

The key to ending the epidemic in the United States is the employment of techniques that pinpoint where HIV infections are spreading rapidly and mobilizing resources for HIV services. This workshop is the final session in an institute that will help recipients understand and implement strategies to investigate and respond to HIV clusters.
