Three case studies about success strategies needed for different regional recipients: the Iowa Department of Public Health and the Part A programs of Dallas, Texas, and Paterson, N.J. Each program will detail how it used an online evidenced-based approach to improve its response to the epidemic.

Part B, Part A, and the Minnesota Council for HIV/AIDS Care and Prevention collaborated to conduct a needs assessment of people with HIV. We facilitated meetings with various stakeholders to gain consensus on questions to include. It’s important to have strong project management, delegate responsibilities, and plan carefully.

Assessment of needs of people with HIV through broad-based community engagement is a tenet of the Ryan White planning process. The Baltimore EMA Planning Council developed a status-neutral survey targeting 1,100 persons. Modified Data Mapping supported community-based survey development by simplifying complex processes and creating transparent iterative processes of stakeholder engagement.

The AIDS Institute will present its analysis of RWHAP funding for the Ending the HIV Epidemic states and jurisdictions in the context of resource allocation to meet the initiative goals and ensure the success of ending the epidemic. Through the Southern Initiative, CAI supported four Part A agencies in the South in integrating a Community Health Worker (CHW) model to address disparities in HIV outcomes. The session will describe the development of systems to collect, report, and use real-time data to track implementation progress and client outcomes. Results reveal promising client outcomes.

This interactive workshop will review updated data and discuss implementation challenges, facilitators, and best practices for routine screening/linkage in an emergency department with urban and rural challenges. Preliminary data from the initial two months (with more than 2,000 patients screened) include .7% HIV (including three acute infections), 7% Hepatitis C (HCV) and 5.2% syphilis.

This workshop will present findings from three recently completed HRSA/HAB-sponsored studies that evaluated the impact of the RWHAP, specifically regarding its cost-effectiveness, models of clinical care, and factors associated with viral suppression.
