A community health center uses a mobile health unit to provide integrated substance use disorder (SUD) and HIV care and treatment for those suffering from housing instability. This low-barrier, mobile, integrated care model, supported by intensive case management and outreach, has made a significant impact on engagement, antiretroviral treatment (ART) initiation, and viral suppression.

Three sites in the Special Projects of National Significance Black Men Who Have Sex with Men (BMSM) Initiative have developed and implemented innovative technology innovations to engage BMSM in care. These include apps, telemedicine, social media, and texting services that meet clients where they are and provide access to services. As part of the SPNS Social Media Initiative (SMI), three Ryan White recipients describe their experiences with text messaging, both automated and real-time, to increase engagement in care and the number of medical appointments kept, and improve viral suppression rates with an emphasis on engaging young men who have sex with men and trans women of color.

The Women Informational Network (WIN) micro-grant initiative supports grassroots, women-led, community-based organizations and leaders conducting innovative approaches that reduce isolation and stigma for women of color with HIV, with a special emphasis placed on women with HIV living in rural areas and ‘resource deserts’ not connected to care.

The HIV Prevention Certified Provider (PCP) program is an online, self-paced CME curriculum composed of five free e-learning courses in HIV prevention. Clinicians who complete the curriculum receive the HIV PCP national designation and certificate, recognizing competency in the clinical and cultural aspects of HIV prevention services, including pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).

This session will educate recipients on the protections of the Americans with Disabilities Act, so as to better inform and advise clients with HIV (as well as Opioid Use Disorder) on their rights to be free from HIV discrimination, in furtherance of the national goal of eradicating stigma and discrimination.
