Using a Multidisciplinary Approach to Improve Retention in HIV Care
MacGregor Infectious Diseases, a hospital-based clinic affiliated with the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, implemented a multidisciplinary approach to strengthen outreach to clients and improve care retention. Creating a Culture of Trauma-Informed Care
Lehigh Valley Health Network Comprehensive Health Services implemented a trauma-informed approach to care delivery, including training staff on how trauma can affect people’s health and how microaggressions in healthcare environments can potentially trigger trauma responses. Test and Treat
The Test and Treat initiative, implemented by Oklahoma State University, connects people to antiretroviral therapy (ART) within 14 days of HIV diagnosis through streamlined intake and initial clinic visit protocols and 30-day medication starter packs. Primero Yo: A Participant-Driven Group Empowering Latina Women with HIV to Find Their Voice
A culturally sensitive, participant-driven, Spanish-language group for Latina women with HIV promoted engagement in HIV services. Many participants had never previously engaged in support services. The increased participation resulted in multiple positive outcomes, including HIV viral load suppression, reduced stigma and isolation, engagement in mental health services, and increased community advocacy.
