This workshop will explore two sites' (Brooklyn and Detroit) experience with the implementation of an evidence-informed intervention for black men who have sex with men (MSM) with HIV. The project seeks to improve HIV outcomes through the use of a culturally tailored intervention for Black MSM, the Text Messaging Intervention to Improve Antiretroviral Adherence among youth with HIV (TXTXT).

This session showcases the activities undertaken by the Ryan White Wellness Center in Charleston, South Carolina, that helped eliminate viral suppression disparities among its young men of color who have sex with men.

The New Jersey Behavioral Health and HIV Integration Project (NJ B-HIP) used an HIV and Behavioral Health Continuum and applied a kit of essential tools to achieve behavioral health and primary HIV care integration and improved outcomes. Specific frameworks, tools, and site-based examples will be shared, and cross-cutting issues will be discussed.

Cooper EIP Expanded Care Clinic in Camden, NJ has incorporated comprehensive Addictions Medicine (AM) care as part of its treatment model for people with HIV. A cohort of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) diagnosed patients displayed significant levels of VLS after enrolling in AM services.

This advantage affords an understanding of the key components of successful intervention strategies of each program. Caracole, an AIDS Service Organization, uses three interconnected approaches to improve retention in HIV care: housing first, harm reduction, and motivational interviewing. Clients in permanent supportive housing had high rates of viral suppression, exceeding Caracole's goal of 75%.
