A Selection of Community Engagement Tools

TargetHIV

A collection of tools "assessing and measuring engagement and its impact" were recently shared on the RWHAPCQM Listserv. Assessing Meaningful Community Engagement to Advance Health Equity resources were developed by the National Academy of Medicine.

Relatedly, access dozens of People with HIV & Community Involvement resources developed across the 32-year history of HRSA's Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP). Examples range from the most recent--a May 2023 webinar, Key Stakeholder Engagement Matters! Syndemics, Health Disparities, and Coordinating Systems of Care--to decades-old tools on how to organize Community Advisory Boards to provide input on clinic operations.

Equally-ancient materials that focus on supporting consumer involvement in planning (e.g., Planning Council Primer, Training Guide) were updated in recent years by the HRSA project Planning CHATT, which ends June 30, 2023. These Planning CHATT tools, and many many more, will remain available online. They cover topics like member recruitment and retention, roles and responsibilities, understanding and using data, and planning body structures and operations.

Ongoing HRSA consumer engagement projects include ELEVATE (leadership training), ESCALATE (ending stigma through empowerment) projects, and ACE TA Center resources to support consumers in selecting and using their health insurance coverage.
