HIV care measures for people with HIV enrolled in the Massachusetts AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) were compared to people with HIV not currently enrolled; results indicate that enrollees have higher frequencies of engagement and retention in care and viral suppression. Evaluation of the data provides insight that enhances programming and service delivery to reduce health disparities.

In 2019, the Louisiana AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) partnered with a leading private dental insurer to design a group dental plan modeled after an employer-sponsored plan, specifically tailored to the needs of people with HIV. Both utilization and client satisfaction rose significantly following the adoption of the plan.

Oklahoma has been classified as one of the seven states with a high rural HIV burden. Telemedicine is an excellent resource to reach patients in rural areas and continue to engage them in care and keep them virally suppressed.

This presentation will describe a distinctive urban telehealth program in a city with high HIV incidence and prevalence, and capacity building activities to increase provider and client engagement.

Telemedicine has emerged to provide medical care to those in rural settings. This model has not yet been utilized by Ryan White clinics at academic centers. We use a multidisciplinary approach to conduct visits with patients via live videoconferencing. There are multiple challenges, but there is potential for increasing access.

Using three HIV telehealth pilot projects as case studies, telehealth leaders from the Medical University of South Carolina—a HRSA-funded Telehealth Center of Excellence—will discuss how telehealth might be leveraged to improve access to HIV prevention and care. Telehealth technical assistance opportunities available through HRSA will also be highlighted.
