Telemedicine has emerged to provide medical care to those in rural settings. This model has not yet been utilized by Ryan White clinics at academic centers. We use a multidisciplinary approach to conduct visits with patients via live videoconferencing. There are multiple challenges, but there is potential for increasing access.

Telehealth offers patients a virtual way of meeting with their care providers, while also improving patient engagement and care plan adherence. This report highlights projects found to offer highly effective (and replicable) approaches to integrating buprenorphine-based medication-assisted treatment into HIV/AIDS primary care. Chapters outline the processes programs need to put in place, including meeting DATA 2000 regulatory requirements, achieving institutional buy-in, implementing staff training requirements, and evaluating processes and outcomes.
