Engaging Historically Black Colleges and Universities in HIV Prevention
Research shows that African American students live with HIV more commonly than their primarily Caucasian counterparts. Historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) educate millions of learners, positioning these entities to enact greater strategies to counter HIV acquisition and spread. Increasing Uptake of PrEP in Cis-Women Through a Health Educator-Driven Walk-In Sexual Health Clinic
Women in the U.S. represent only 7% of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) users. A free walk-in service in Washington, D.C., staffed by health educators was created and sought to reduce barriers to sexual health services, yielding an increase in female patients to 65% of new PrEP starts during a four-month pilot program.
