As HIV elimination activities increase, jurisdictions can address HIV/Hepatitis C (HCV) co-infection by enhancing HCV screening and treatment data collection. This session will discuss NASTAD's work with North Carolina to incorporate HCV data in CAREWare and electronic health records (EHRs), as well as recommendations for integrating HCV services into the HIV care infrastructure.

This interactive workshop will review updated data and discuss implementation challenges, facilitators, and best practices for routine screening/linkage in an emergency department with urban and rural challenges. Preliminary data from the initial two months (with more than 2,000 patients screened) include .7% HIV (including three acute infections), 7% Hepatitis C (HCV) and 5.2% syphilis.

Team members will share data around cure rates, reinfection, and engaging with marginalized patients, and discuss leveraging existing Ryan White infrastructure and resources for such efforts.

Services addressing social determinants of health are provided in corrections facilities and upon release. The HCV Consultation Line (HEPline) has received multiple cases involving Hepatitis C (HCV) treatment interruptions with prescribers asking for guidance on best approaches. This presentation reviews representative HCV cases where treatment interruptions provide lessons in improving systems of care to prevent treatment lapses and optimize the chance of HCV cure.
