This session will present strategies to improve viral suppression in clients experiencing unstable housing and homelessness. This includes both a recipient serving homeless clients and a RWHAP AIDS Education and Training Center that trains clinicians on strategies to serve clients experiencing homelessness. Reaching and engaging rural populations in care and treatment is critical to ending the HIV epidemic. Engaging the community and including faith institutions are key to improve access to care, treatment, and adherence. This session will highlight how three projects are working with implementing partners in the rural South.

In this workshop, two sites in HRSA's Improving Health Outcomes through the Coordination of Supportive Employment and Housing Services Initiative will describe how they work with their Part A Planning Councils and the Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Coordinated Entry System to identify and obtain permanent housing for people with HIV who are unstably housed.

Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program uses an innovative care model, designed from the margins, to meet the complex needs of people living at the intersections of HIV, homelessness, substance use disorder, and incarceration. Such models hold promise for closing HIV care and prevention equity gaps for this hyper-vulnerable group.

The panel will discuss experiences working with Ryan White and housing data, including the development of expanded housing definitions and findings from research. The workshop will engage participants to discuss what housing information is currently collected in their system and review what additional information it would be helpful to capture.

Oklahoma has been classified by the Department of Health and Human Services as one of the seven states with a high rural HIV burden. Test-and-treat protocols are feasible within high-volume HIV clinics which serve rural and underserved communities to minimize the time to the first appointment to decrease time to viral load suppression.

Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program will share its innovative approach toward the micro-elimination of Hepatitis C (HCV) for homeless-experienced people with HIV. Team members will share data around cure rates, reinfection, and engaging with marginalized patients, and discuss leveraging existing Ryan White infrastructure and resources for such efforts.

This workshop will highlight the AIDS Education Training Centers' (AETC) Core Training activities from 2016 through 2019, focusing on types of providers reached, priority training topics, and training modalities. Two AETCs will share experiences engaging rural jurisdictions with low-volume HIV providers and approaches for reaching providers in the Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative jurisdictions.
