The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene designed an HIV self-management protocol for the Ryan White Part A care coordination program. Through the protocol, staff and patients systematically identify and address patient strengths and challenges, focusing activities on building patients' capacity to manage their care.

HRSA/HAB guidance on using RWHAP funds to provide services to eligible individuals in prisons, jails, and other correctional systems allows recipients to determine which RWHAP services to provide and for how long. This session will provide overviews of HAB policy and two recipients' programs serving people who are justice-involved.

This workshop will introduce a practical approach for focused and inclusive conversations about evaluation and HIV program outcomes. Motivational interviewing techniques are applied in the program evaluation context, using examples from Ryan White programs. Using motivational interviewing, the evaluator leads the dance in the desired direction while incorporating stakeholder input.

The game was developed to address the common scenarios that occur which cause stress and confusion in the battle to weigh client needs against agency ethos and program requirements. A culturally sensitive, participant-driven, Spanish-language group for Latina women with HIV promoted engagement in HIV services. Many participants had never previously engaged in support services. The increased participation resulted in multiple positive outcomes, including HIV viral load suppression, reduced stigma and isolation, engagement in mental health services, and increased community advocacy.
