This presentation will provide an overview of various strategies utilized by the quality management program to increase participation of people with HIV and discuss lessons learned from implemented strategies. The intended audience is those interested in expanding existing program avenues to provide opportunities for capacity building related to quality management concepts for people with HIV.

This presentation focuses on peer-based training for engaging consumer voices in HIV providers' quality improvement efforts. Community-based, peer-led efforts impact HIV care program effectiveness. Peer-led training concentrating on client advocacy and involvement in quality improvement is another method for promoting intentional collaboration between HIV service programs and people with HIV.

Reaching viral suppression for the last 10% is challenging! Three different clinical sites across the state of Missouri identified a way to stratify unsuppressed patients – those that are consistently viremic and those that are unexpectedly viremic. This presentation will focus on quality improvement (QI) interventions for patients with persistent viremia.

Hennepin County Public Health (HCPH) matched a cohort of 5,500 Ryan White clients against county systems including Medicaid, other Minnesota public health care programs, food and cash support, emergency shelter and housing assistance, case management services, and the criminal justice system. HCPH is leveraging this data to reduce health disparities.

The Boston EMA built an innovative program to enhance provider capacity to incorporate clinical quality improvement (CQI) into its Ryan White service structure. The program provides a range of resources to support varied CQI needs across the EMA. Providers engaged in CQI have documented improved client outcomes including viral suppression and client satisfaction.

For 30 years, the Positive Life program at CommWell Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in rural North Carolina, has provided high-quality, patient-centered care. Since the revamping of its clinical quality management (CQM) program, it has continued to exceed HRSA benchmarks. This presentation will share unique and insightful experiences of implementing a CQM program.

Based on extensive assessments and ongoing input from clients and case managers, the collaborators have developed and deployed a ‘gamified’ version of the TAVIE-RED platform to engage, coach, and provide quality data that is are meaningful to providers. Speakers will present the platform and create an interactive process for participants.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s (MDPH) Office of HIV/AIDS (OHA) Part B program recently completed a multi-year process building a scalable and responsive CQM program. Staff from MDPH will review the program, highlight challenges and best practices, and share examples and lessons learned.

Three Rivers Health District (TRHD) followed a cohort of HIV patients from rural communities and monitored patient adherence to HIV medication, reported toxicity, and side effects to the medication, liver function, and other measures for the purpose of proactive treatment. The workshop will provide examples that impacted the health of the clients prescribed antiretroviral treatment (ART).

STAR Health Center engaged staff to redesign workflow to improve the patients’ experience and reduce the cycle time of a new HIV visit, using a Lean methodology that improves staff morale and provides learning opportunities. The cycle time of an initial visit was reduced, and patient experience improved as a result.

Alliance for Positive Change, a New York City community-based organization, will present its pioneering peer training and workforce development initiatives that create opportunities for low-income New Yorkers with shared, lived experiences to re-enter the workforce. Additionally, presenters will provide an overview of the proven health and psychosocial benefits of returning to work for people with HIV.
