Despite systemwide efforts to increase capacity for quality improvement (QI) there remains challenges in bridging the gap between quality improvement concepts, best clinical practices, and client barriers to quality care. To address this gap, the Broward EMA utilized a learning collaborative approach to improve providers’ capacity to conduct QI.

The content will focus on planning your CQM program, developing your work plan, and building the CQM committee. This session is intended for people with less than two years of experience in CQM.

This informative, interactive workshop will inform participants of the basic tenets of developing and revising a clinical quality management (CQM) plan and associated work plan, based on operational capacity and CQM program planned activities. Using their own CQM plans, participants will assess and revise each section with the guidance of subject matter experts.

A culturally sensitive, participant-driven, Spanish-language group for Latina women with HIV promoted engagement in HIV services. Many participants had never previously engaged in support services. The increased participation resulted in multiple positive outcomes, including HIV viral load suppression, reduced stigma and isolation, engagement in mental health services, and increased community advocacy.

Women in the U.S. represent only 7% of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) users. A free walk-in service in Washington, D.C., staffed by health educators was created and sought to reduce barriers to sexual health services, yielding an increase in female patients to 65% of new PrEP starts during a four-month pilot program.

This session will discuss how to reduce the percentage of HIV patients who are out of care. Participants will learn to use a multi-disciplinary team approach to identify patients who are truly out of care, pinpoint the most effective approach toward contacting patients to be brought back into HIV care, and maintain the patient’s HIV care.
